2025 MWCS & IAS Kick Off in Shanghai, Leading the New Direction of Global Industrial Technology

2025-09-24

On September 23rd, the 2025 Machine Tool & Metalworking Show (MWCS) and 2025 Industrial Automation Show (IAS) — core professional exhibitions of the 25th China International Industry Fair — kicked off at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) in Hongqiao, Shanghai. MWCS attracted over 800 domestic and overseas enterprises, covering an exhibition area of more than 80,000 square meters. TRUMPF China made its national debut with multiple pieces of equipment, and a dedicated "AI + Industrial Mother Machine" zone gathered leading enterprises to showcase achievements in technology integration. Meanwhile, IAS, themed "Automation + Industrial AI: The Self-Evolution of Factories", focused on 7 key segments to present a full-chain technology ecosystem. Currently, China’s industrial automation is transitioning from "standalone automation" to "systematic intelligence", and industry insiders predict that future factories will achieve "self-evolution". Additionally, the organizing committee held over 10 concurrent thematic conferences to facilitate industrial exchanges and digital transformation.
On September 23rd, as the core professional exhibition segments of the 25th China International Industry Fair, the 2025 Machine Tool & Metalworking Show (MWCS) and the 2025 Industrial Automation Show (IAS) officially kicked off at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) in Hongqiao, Shanghai. The two exhibitions jointly presented cutting-edge technologies and equipment achievements in the global industrial field.
Liu Guoliang, Managing Director of Hannover Messe Milano (China) Co., Ltd., stated: "As core components of the China International Industry Fair, MWCS and IAS have long become important barometers for industrial technology development in Asia and even the world. This exhibition focuses on displaying a large number of world-leading industrial equipment and innovative technologies. Against the backdrop of in-depth adjustments in the global industrial chain structure, it fully demonstrates the huge development opportunities and strong innovative vitality contained in the Chinese market."
Leveraging the favorable momentum of the rapid growth of the global sheet metal machinery market, MWCS made its appearance on an ultra-large scale this year, attracting more than 800 high-quality enterprises from home and abroad to participate, with a total exhibition area exceeding 80,000 square meters. Among them, TRUMPF China participated with four industry-leading equipment. It not only brought the national debut of the fully automatic 7000 series panel bending center but also simultaneously exhibited the 5000 series punching laser machine tools, bending machines, and automated laser welding systems, fully demonstrating its technical strength and solution capabilities in the entire chain of sheet metal processing.
It is worth noting that the specially set "AI + Industrial Mother Machine" zone gathered leading enterprises in the industry. Enterprises such as Shanghai Machine Tool Works, Top NC, SJTU Intelligent, Beijing Jingdiao, and Tebell NC settled in the zone. Through physical displays and technical explanations, they comprehensively presented the latest R&D achievements and application cases of the in-depth integration of artificial intelligence technology and industrial mother machines, providing an intuitive reference for the industry to explore the path of technological upgrading.
Currently, driven by the synergy of three major forces: China's policy guidance, core technological breakthroughs, and market demand upgrading, the Chinese industrial automation industry is accelerating its transformation process, leaping from the traditional "standalone automation" model to a higher-level "systematic intelligence" direction, and the industry development has entered a new stage.
With the core theme of "Automation + Industrial AI: The Self-Evolution of Factories", the IAS focuses on seven key thematic segments, namely intelligent manufacturing system solutions, motion control systems, intelligent sensing and connection technologies, embedded technologies, power transmission systems, measurement technologies and instruments, and industry-specific customized solutions. Through diversified product and technology displays, the exhibition panoramically presents the entire chain of technology ecology from intelligent transformation of production lines to the application of factory-level digital twin technology, providing enterprises with a one-stop technical reference and cooperation docking platform for building intelligent factories.
Industry experts analyze that with the continuous advancement of relevant supporting policies and the acceleration of technology implementation and application, future factories will present three major development characteristics: higher density of automated equipment, stronger independent and controllable capabilities of core technologies, and more flexible intelligent decision-making mechanisms. Ultimately, they will achieve a true sense of "self-evolution" and promote the overall improvement of industrial production efficiency and quality.
To further promote industrial exchange and cooperation, the organizing committee carefully planned and organized more than 10 high-value concurrent thematic conferences and activities for the two major theme exhibitions of MWCS and IAS. These activities focus on hot industry topics, build a high-quality platform for in-depth cooperation and efficient exchange among enterprises in the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the industrial chain, help the industry jointly explore innovative paths for industrial digital transformation and sustainable development, and promote the coordinated progress of the global industrial field.
